“A wacky tale of love, murder, and shoes!”
— Dramatic Publishing Company
It all started when Delores, an unhappy housewife, and George, a shoe salesman, met at Shoe Fantasy—and it was love at first shoe-fitting. The only thing standing in the way was Delores' doting but half-witted husband, Marvin, who would never agree to a divorce. So there was only one thing left to do: kill Marvin so they can run off together and live a carefree life of passion and romance in a tropical paradise.
The lovers hatch a plan over dinner, but complications arise—and what should have been a simple, foolproof scheme quickly spirals into chaos. Things take an unexpected turn when Esperanza, the eccentric Spanish-speaking maid, shows up on the wrong night and she, too, falls for George.
Now George and Delores must improvise wildly to get rid of the lovesick Esperanza and follow through with their plan—without killing each other first! Their attempts get funnier and funnier as the lovers try again and again to finish the job, only to have Esperanza and Marvin unknowingly foil their plans each time— resulting in a whirlwind of romance, sabotage, and perfectly orchestrated mayhem.

Meet the cast & crew

Brookelynn Allan
"Delores"
Brookelynn has been counting down the days to the debut of If the Shoe Fits—her seventh show with Mini Fridge Theatre Company. Her past work with Mini Fridge includes roles in The Foreigner by Larry Shue, See How They Run by Philip King, Unnecessary Farce by Paul Slade Smith, and We Must Kill Toni by Ian Stuart Black. She also served as Stage Manager for Don't Dress for Dinner by Marc Camoletti, and Assistant Stage Manager for Ken Ludwig’s The Game’s Afoot or Holmes for the Holidays.
The eclectic cast and crew keep her coming back year after year for more—not to mention the delightful and supportive audience!

Gareth Nicol
"Marvin"
Good evening, MFT audience! Gareth is delighted to return to the stage this season with Mini Fridge Theatre Company. He previously appeared in The Foreigner by Larry Shue, Hate Mail by Bill Corbett and Kira Obolensky, and Ken Ludwig’s The Game’s Afoot (or Holmes for the Holidays). He also had the pleasure of co-directing last season’s Exit Laughing by Paul Elliott.
Thank you all for coming and always remember—the secret to life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you’ve got it made.

Grant Biebrick
"George"
A reconfirmed bachelor, Grant enjoys long walks on... oh. Sorry. Wrong bio.
This marks Grant’s third production with MFT. Third time’s the charm? Or three strikes and you’re out? Time will tell! First things first: Sorry, Mom—it was in the script! Okay, now that’s handled.
The lead-up to the show this year has once again reaffirmed just how cathartic the process of live theatre can be. A big thank you to everyone who steps on the stage and helps create this shared experience—especially you in the audience. You play a very important part and make a difference!
Grant sends a massive thank you to his parents for never missing a show, and to his kids for keeping him centered and assisting with the world’s most neurotic Beagle while he’s off playing on stage. NBK.

Claire Hurst
"Esperanza"
Claire has been involved in theatre since high school. She holds a BFA in Acting and has worked with several theatre troupes, including Greystone Theatre, Stage One, Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan, and Off Broadway Dinner Theatre. She’s excited to join Mini Fridge Theatre Company, has even learned Spanish to play Esperanza, and has been having a lot of fun. Enjoy the show!

Jason Weckert
Director
This is Jason’s fourth attempt at directing, all with Mini Fridge Theatre Company. He previously directed Norm Foster’s The Foursome and The Ladies Foursome and Nobody’s Perfect by Simon Williams.
Enjoy the show!

Krystof Weckert
Stage Manager
To make a single-serving mug cake, add 4 tablespoons of whole milk and 6 chocolate sandwich cookies to a microwave-safe mug (at least 10 oz). Use a fork to crush the cookies into a paste—this gets easier as they soak. Stir in 2 teaspoons of neutral oil and ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract, followed by 2 teaspoons of granulated sugar. Then mix in 2 teaspoons of all-purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of cocoa powder, ⅓ teaspoon of baking powder, and a pinch (about ⅛ teaspoon) of salt until fully combined. Microwave on high for 80–90 seconds until the cake is cooked through. For extra flavor and texture, top with chocolate chips and more crushed cookies while it’s still hot.

Rod Hutchinson
Assistant Stage Manager
Rod is happy to be backstage again. At MFT, he has served as a stage manager, assistant stage manager, director, actor, and even the guy at the front door. He hopes you enjoy the show!

“Halfway There is Foster at his best. The laughs are frequent and very funny."
– OntarioStage.com
Welcome to Stewiacke, Nova Scotia—proudly (and almost) halfway between the Equator and the North Pole. At the local diner, four women share coffee, laughs, and the daily dramas of small-town life. When a heartbroken doctor from Toronto arrives for a short-term job, he stirs up more than just conversation—especially for Janine, the waitress who’s learned to keep her guard up.
Written by Norm Foster, Canada’s most produced playwright and a national treasure, Halfway There is a feel-good comedy full of sharp wit, tender moments, and unexpected connections. It’s a warm, funny, and quietly moving story about friendship, change, and the people who help us find our way.
** Pre-sale for MFT Season Pass Holders begins Oct. 13 and ends Oct. 26 @ 6pm. Tickets go on sale to the general public Oct. 27. **
