Frequently asked questions
What is your COVID-19 policy? Is proof of vaccination required?
Proof of vaccination of two World Health Organization (WHO)-approved COVID-19 vaccines is currently required to attend performances at Mini Fridge Theatre Company unless otherwise indicated on a specific show date. Vaccination documentation can include your eHealth COVID-19 vaccination record or the vaccination card you received listing the dates you received your shots. Out-of-province documentation is accepted as long as it verifies receiving two WHO-approved vaccines. MFT will not accept a recent negative test for unvaccinated patrons wishing to attend performances.
Additionally, we follow all policies for restaurants and theatres as mandated by the Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) as well as all public health measures instituted by the Government of Saskatchewan. We encourage our patrons to follow all guidance put out by the SHA and the government as well.
We will be limiting seating to roughly 50% of the venue's capacity (100 seats out of a 220 person limit). Masking is not mandatory in the building but is strongly encouraged in the common areas outside of the audience seating zone. We will have masks freely available and will provide hand sanitizer stations throughout venue areas accessed by our patrons. Contact tracing information will be collected and we will document the names and contact information of any patrons who, for any reason, use a ticket issued under another person's name. Foot traffic will be restricted via directional signage. Nightly cleanings will take place after each performance.
We take your privacy seriously and will limit access, use and retention of the information you provide and we thank you in advance for helping ensure the safety of everyone attending an MFT event.
Is your staff vaccinated?
All Mini Fridge Theatre Company staff and performers are all fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
What happens if someone finds out they contracted COVID-19 after seeing a recent show?
If a recent patron receives a positive COVID-19 diagnosis, we ask that they reach out to us immediately.
How do your group discounts work?
Mini Fridge Theatre Company currently offers discounts of $5 off each ticket on group orders (i.e.: made at the same time by the same person) for parties of six people or more. Purchases made separately cannot be combined to achieve a discount.
Discounts will be applied automatically at checkout but sometimes glitches can occur in the system. Generally, this happens when a person with items in a cart leaves the order page to add additional tickets before paying. Any potential discounts applied to group ticket orders might be lost in that case. If that happens, please remove all items from the checkout cart before paying then place your order again from scratch.
How do I get (and pick up) my tickets?
Tickets are available exclusively on the Mini Fridge Theatre Company website. Tickets can be printed and brought to the event or can be displayed on a mobile device at time of check-in. If you do not see an email from us within a few minutes, please check your junk/spam folder in case the confirmation email and your ticket were delivered there instead of your inbox.
NOTE: If you're placing an order for a group, let the members of your party know to check their email for their ticket if you entered unique addresses for each person.
Am I allowed to give tickets in my name to someone else?
We understand there may be times or circumstances where you would like to gift, or transfer the tickets you have purchased to another individual. In this case, you must advise the box office of the updated patron name and any applicable changes to group seating as well as any meal changes at least three days in advance of the performance. Meal changes cannot be made less than 72 hours prior to an upcoming event. You may not re-sell a ticket for profit. Any tickets that have been determined to be re-sold will become void. You may not transfer a ticket to a minor for licensed events where minors are not permitted.
Is it possible to buy just show tickets (at a lesser cost) and not the dinner?
At this time, we do not offer a show-only concept; however, there may be events in the future that offer an opportunity for general seating.
How early do you suggest we arrive?
Doors open promptly at the time indicated on our website and your ticket — most often at 5:30pm, with dinner service starting at 6pm. Please expect to wait 5-10 minutes to be seated at your designated table depending on the number of other attendees in the queue. We thank you in advance for your patience with us during any wait times encountered as a result of our safety precautions and audience check-in process.
How are ticket costs determined? Where is my money going?
Each Mini Fridge Theatre Company show has unique elements required to bring you an enjoyable evening. Generally speaking, ticket revenue covers costs such as performance rights, event and venue insurance, venue and caterer expenses, set design, props and costume rental or creation, promotional costs, box office and website management, and—of course—payment to the cast and crew helping deliver the amazing laughs at each show!
Where are you located?
Mini Fridge Theatre Company productions are currently being performed at St. John's Anglican Hall (816 Spadina Crescent East Saskatoon, Saskatchewan S7K 3H4).
NOTE: St. John's Anglican Hall is different from the landmark cathedral. Our performances are held in the hall building just beside the cathedral.
Is parking available?
Street parking regulated by the City of Saskatoon is available nearby. There is also a paid parking lot adjacent to the St. John’s Cathedral Hall — our performance venue.
Are shows general admission or reserved seating?
All ticket admissions are purchased through our seating system on a first-come, first-served basis. Please be aware when booking that, due to limited table space, you may be seated with another party if your group will occupy less than the maximum seats available at a table. Mini Fridge Theatre Company reserves the right to adjust bookings and safely fill the tables so that all patrons can enjoy the dinner theatre experience. If you have any concerns or questions regarding how to book your group through our system, please feel free to email our box office.
Are there age restrictions to your performances?
Yes. Due to restrictions with our liquor licensing, all events are 19+. No minors are permitted.
Is your venue accessible for disabled patrons?
St. John's Anglican Cathedral Hall is fully equipped to accommodate all patrons. It offers an accessible elevator in the front entrance of the theatre. Accessible stalls are available in private washrooms upon request. Please ask a staff member for details.
Do you serve alcohol?
We have obtained Special Occasion permits to serve alcoholic beverages at all performances. These include a variety of local beers and wines during meal service and the intermission. As such, Mini Fridge Theatre Company events are all currently 19+. No minors permitted.
Is there a coat check? Is there a fee?
For events happening during periods of bad weather or extreme cold, a coat room can be made available for those wishing to use it. Unfortunately, we do not offer a staffed coat check service at this time, so use of the coat room is at each patron’s own risk.
What methods of payment do you accept? Do we need cash? Is there an ATM on site?
Contactless payment methods are preferred. We accept most payment options, including debit, Visa, MasterCard, GooglePay or ApplePay, and—yes— even cash. Unfortunately, our venue does not offer ATM services at this time.
Am I permitted to bring in outside food or drink?
No outside food or beverages are allowed in the theatre. Coffee, tea and water are available free of charge.
Can you accommodate larger groups for corporate or festive (friends/family) events?
Businesses or large parties wishing to book a private event are encouraged to email the box office for information on opportunities for large groups. We are happy to accommodate special events or Christmas party bookings whenever possible.
Do you offer refunds?
You may request to cancel your ticket for a full refund up to 72 hours before the date and time of the event. Cancellations between 25-72 hours before the event may be transferred to a different date/time of the same event; however, due to coordination with multiple factors (caterer, venue, seating space, etc.), this cannot be guaranteed. If we are unable to accommodate within this time frame, refunds can be requested, less a 30% fee for catering.
Cancellation requests made within 24 hours of the show date/time may not receive a refund nor a transfer—unless the performance is cancelled, rescheduled, or there is a material change to the programme of event. When you buy your ticket for a show, you agree to these terms.
Once inside, may I leave the theatre and come back? If I leave once the show has begun, will I be allowed to re-enter?
To help ensure an uninterrupted and delightful experience for all attendees, Mini Fridge Theatre Company may refuse latecomers admission to the auditorium or may delay their re-entry until a suitable break or interval within the performance takes place. The same applies to those leaving during a performance.
How long are your performances? Is there an intermission?
Most of our performances are all considered full-length (approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours), with one 15-minute intermission.
Is it okay to take photos/videos of your live performance?
The use of equipment for recording or transmitting (by digital or other means) any audio, visual or audio-visual material or any information or data inside the venue is strictly forbidden unless attendees are informed otherwise. Unauthorized recordings, tapes, films, or similar items may be confiscated and destroyed in order to honour the terms under which performance rights were acquired for each show.
Can a group book an entire evening for a staff party or special event?
Yes! Mini Fridge Theatre Company offers special group rates for its Saskatoon performances (subject to availability at time of inquiry). Contact us to have a discussion about your needs and the date(s) you're interested in.
What other types of events do you offer?
From specialized live corporate events to interactive murder mystery nights, MFT can provide a variety of entertainment options depending on your needs. We've even taken shows on the road to support local fundraisers and have written variety shows for staff appreciation events. Let us know what you're interested in and we'll be happy to discuss options with you and your group.
Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes! Please feel free to contact our box office for all your gift certificate needs. We offer gift certificates in any denomination you would like.
The food is fantastic! Who's the chef?
We'd love to take credit for the amazing meals served at our shows but we can't. MFT is currently partnered with Saskatoon's Pitch Kitchen — a local business run by two sisters with a love for homemade cooking — to prepare and deliver your orders.
Fun fact: We've worked with Pitch Kitchen to ensure that all plates and cutlery used at MFT shows are made on biodegradable sugarcane.
Can I donate old costumes or unique props?
Depending on the show, we’re often looking for hard-to-find items. If you have something that you’d like us to take a look at, let us know and we’d be happy to consider it. Storage is an issue for us, so we can’t accept all items but we would certainly be interested in seeing a photo or having a conversation!
Can I be in (or help out with) an upcoming show?
If you’d like to be updated about auditions, subscribe to our mailing list for future audition notices. To learn more about opportunities with our backstage crew (set building/design, stage management, costume support, sound/lighting, etc.), send us an email and let us know what you have in mind!
